So this is more like an introduction my Gamedev posts, I have been sick this past week and havent been able to do much but I hope I can get back on it soon. Hopefully I will be able to show a bit more of gamedev on my next posts.

How I got into this

So for my whole life I have been an artist. I always loved drawing and creating stories, but at the same time I also loved video games. Games for me are able to deliver whole stories and experiences that no other media can, and since I was a very hyperactive child they would always capture my atention more than anything else, even tho I couldn't understand them, because almost no games were translated in portuguese here in Brazil(and to this day not all games are). The first game I was able to understand the story was Twinsen`s Odssey (Little big adventure 2) and to this day that is still one of the most creative games I ever played and will always have a place in my heart.
As I grew up, I noticed that art was always more of a hobby and I still can't see myself working with things like comissions(tho I want to try), so I went on the programmer path for my professional education, but games are still my passion so thats what I focus on.

What projects I am working on?

Well, I have many ideas I want to work on. I am trying to keep my feet on the ground, so I tryign to keep my attention on just 2 games, since both of them share lots of the same mechanics, things have been going ok. Working on just one game at time would be better, but I am a stubborn person with a very short attention span. Now, these names are just how I am calling the projects and not the definitive names.

Cat's Curse

A 2D sidescrolling plataformer game where you play as a cursed anthro ocelot. I started this game as my final project for college and I want to see it finished. The initial ideia was the ocelot has been cursed and is trying to find a cure, but the story so far has evolved a lot since that. All I have to show is from the old version when I was using Godot, so now i would need to code everythign again in unity. which is a good thing, the original code was a mess.

a test run showing the basic functionalities

I did the sprite for the main character but I plan on rework that, all the rest are free resources.

Bat's Quest

A mix of bullethell and plataformer where you choose between 2 monster bat siblings to help a human princess return home. I am still working on the story and designs so unfortunatly I have nothing to show other than the first designs of the bat sibings.

What game engine I use and why

I am using Unity3D. I am not a huge fan of Unity but the amount of tutorials and documentation around is really good. But never again I am coding in Unity using visual studio, just stick to vs code, it's way faster.
That being said I am keeping an eye on Godot engine for a while, I started coding cat's curse in it but it still needs some more improvements for me to jump back.

What I plan for next Gamedev posts

I still need to organize these projects a bit more before diving into them again might do a post on how I organize the projects too, right now I have been doing lots of tutorials to learn how to use unity so maybe I post a bit about them. Also might do some posts on some useful tools like Tiled.
